Sources of Strength
Sources of Strength is a prevention program, modeled after a method used by the University of Rochester, which may improve the quality of life within the school, the community and perhaps even the county.
The mission of the program is to reduce the risk of suicide, violence and substance abuse. The team accomplishes that by developing curriculum, poster campaigns and presentations. Sources of Strength program is lead by Mrs. Korba and is made up of 28 Peer Leaders from grades 8-12. We have seven adult advisors: Bonnie Denison, Lauri Gordon, Eric Strutz, Marie Martin, Justine Roefs, Linda Many and Amanda Ruggles which assist Mrs. Korba with this dynamic group. The programs most powerful element is the team of Peer Leaders, which were selected through nomination by the school’s teachers or administrators based on the positive conduct and leadership ability. Working with this group of kids is truly an honor.
